Inks & cauldrons¶
Quills draw with ink and cloths erase when soaked with solvent. Both are brewed in an ordinary water cauldron.
Brewing in a cauldron¶
- Fill a cauldron with water.
- Throw the ingredients into the water (drop them so the items land inside the cauldron). After a short moment the water takes on a colour and the brew is ready — you'll see witch particles when it locks in.
- Dip your tool: right-click the cauldron with the matching tool to fill it. Each dip consumes one water level, so a full cauldron is good for three dips.
Grace window
The cauldron waits about 1.5 seconds after the last item lands before deciding the recipe, so multi-ingredient inks aren't mistaken for a simpler subset. Throw all the ingredients in together.
Inks¶
Throw the ingredients into a water cauldron to brew the ink. Glows marks inks whose strokes shine in the dark; Permanent marks inks whose strokes never fade.
| Ink | Ingredients | Glows | Permanent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common Ink | 1 ink sac | — | — |
| Amethyst Ink | 1 amethyst shard | — | — |
| Luminous Ink | 1 glow ink sac + 1 amethyst shard | ✅ | — |
| Indelible Ink | 1 echo shard + 1 diamond + 1 amethyst block | — | ✅ |
| Luminous Indelible Ink | 1 echo shard + 1 diamond + 1 amethyst block + 1 glow ink sac | ✅ | ✅ |
Solvent¶
| Solvent | Ingredients |
|---|---|
| Solvent | 1 slime ball + 1 fermented spider eye |
Dip a cloth into a solvent cauldron to soak it. A wet cloth can erase; once it dries out, soak it again.
Tinting the colour¶
A brewed ink starts at its natural colour, but you can shade it with dyes: throw any of the 16 vanilla dye items into the same cauldron and each one pulls the colour halfway toward its own hue. Throw several to mix — the water surface previews the result.
The 16 dyes
White, Light Gray, Gray, Black, Brown, Red, Orange, Yellow, Lime, Green, Cyan, Light Blue, Blue, Purple, Magenta, Pink.
Which tool takes which liquid¶
Each tool only accepts the liquid it's meant for — dip the wrong one and nothing happens.
| Tool | Accepts | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Amethyst Dye (marker) | Amethyst Ink only | The marker is the amethyst-only pen. |
| Quill | any ink except Amethyst | Common, Luminous, Indelible, Luminous Indelible. |
| Cloth | Solvent only | Soaks the cloth so it can erase. |
Switching inks in a quill
Dipping a quill into a different ink than it currently holds asks for confirmation — right-click again within a few seconds to confirm. Replacing the ink empties whatever was left in the quill before refilling.
